I was used to being a mindless monster on the full moon. During the day, the constant nagging of my inner wolf to find my mate could be pushed away. When the moon was at its peak, the nagging turned into vicious rage.
That was why I had askedâalright, beggedâthe vamp to keep Aggie away. I didnât want her to see me like that, and I wouldnât have been able to live with myself if I ever hurt her.
Then the oddest thing happened.
I was in the woods, biting myself and anything else I could get my jaws on. My human mind was tucked far away; all I felt were the mindless instincts of the wolf.
Until her scent and magick reached me.
It was like the fog cleared from my mind. Her presence was a cool breeze that blew back the raging fires of my wolfâs presence. Holy shit, I could think, and I was still in my wolf form. I was shaking.
I ran toward her, knowing this was proof that Aggie was mine. It had to be, right? I snarled in frustration as the scent of decay came next, then I remembered I had asked the vamp to make sure she stayed safe.
That didnât mean he had to suck her face off.
I howled, running toward her and delighting in the ability to run on the full moon under my own power. She saw me and smiled, unafraid even as the vamp eyed me with mistrust. I didnât blame him.
I lowered my head to the ground, wanting Aggie to be sure that I was safe. Her hand softly brushed the fur on my snout, and I could have died happily then. Her magick made her hair swirl around her as if caught in the wind, her beauty eclipsing the moon itself.
Aggie was a goddess.
Then she took off, and the race was on. After a beat even the vampyre joined in, and it was the best full moon of my entire life. The euphoria was addicting ⦠or perhaps it was the thrill of Aggieâs magick connecting with my wolf. Regardless, I wasnât totally able to control what happened next.
I tackled her, pinning her small body under mine. Usually I wished to be in my wolf form, but what I wouldnât give to have my own body trapping her to ground so I couldâ
The vamp made a choked sound as I shifted back to my human form, naked and still lying on top of Aggie.
âWhat theââ Karl stuttered.
âYouâre naked!â Abby laughed.
The vamp was shrieking like an old woman, and I was still too much in shock to say anything. Aggie was laughing hysterically, so I focused on her.
âYour turn.â Aggie demanded.
She pulled my head down to hers, and I surrendered completely. The vamp may have been screeching again, but heâd already had his turn. Besides, how could I care about anything other than the soft lips on mine, or the heat of Aggieâs core grinding against my pelvis?
Aggie threw her head back, and I
